Pantherella
Pantherella was originally founded by Mr Louis Goldschmidt in 1937 as the Midland Hosiery Company in a time when thick, plain socks were the only choice of sock available to buy. Louis saw an opportunity in the stagnant market to introduce lighter weight socks for men.
The new light weight, and comfortable socks became a huge success and by the time any competition entered the market, Louis had set the standard in luxury socks for men. In 1945 Louis then registered the Pantherella brand name which is still, to this day, associated with high quality hosiery worldwide.
So popular were Pantherella socks for men, that Louis stopped production of ladies hoisery in 1952, not re-launching a ladies collection until 2005 (during Pantherella’s 60th anniversary year).
