The Yoropen was invented in Taiwan by Mr Bao Shen Liu, who was born in 1959 in Taipei, Taiwan.
Mr Liu felt unfulfilled in his monotonous work at a chrome coating factory but found inspiration to 'invent' after watching an Indiana Jones film. Mr Lui accurately replicated the folding clothes hanger seen in the film, and his inventions developed from there!
Mr Liu believes that one of the most effective means of learning takes place via the pen through the act of writing. He decided to apply his skills as an inventor to the improvement of the pen. He studied pens, writers and writing in order to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of conventional writing instruments.
Following previous experiences he had at working with angles, Mr Liu realised that a change in the angle that the pen meets the paper could make it more user friendly. He wanted to design the Yoropen to address the many problems he had identified with conventional pens and making writing easier for all writers.
He developed a series of prototypes of the Yoropen, refining the angle of the writing point and other details of design until he created a writing instrument which makes hand writing easier and reduces strain.
The Yoropen is a stylish, unique and truely funky pen.
An ergonomic design reduces strain, saves energy and makes writing easier. The Yoropen is perfect for left -handers, people with disabilities and for writing for sustained periods (such as in a business environment or during exams).
The Yoropen's innovative offset nib ensures pressure is exerted directly onto the pen tip making writing easier. In addition, the consequent holding position prevents a poor grip and an awkward writing position.
Winner of the Gold Medal at the Geneva 2002 Salon International Invention Awards, the world's largest and most prestigious inventions convention, the Yoropen is becoming a favourite worldwide.
Benefits of the Yoropen
1. Finger Support
A change in holding angle to conventional pens allows comfortable and natural writing with the Yoropen; thus improving posture, saving energy and reducing writing strain.
2. Visual Space
The angle of the Yoropen ensures that fingers do not obstruct the field of vision. Excellent for designers.
3. Adjustable grip
The Yoropen's tripod grip can be rotated enabling the writer to find the perfect writing position. Left handers can simply rotate the grip to the left.
The Yoropen is also ideal for left-handed users since they will not 'smudge' their writing.
