About Timberland
Timberland love every moment they spend outdoors, and work hard to create clothing and accessories that make that experience better in every way! Indeed Timberland’s mission is to equip people to make a difference in their world. They do this by creating outstanding clothing and accessories and by trying to make a difference in the areas where they live, work and sell.
br> Timberland is a large organisation, made up of lots of small parts. The company makes boots, shoes, wallets, bags, clothes, suitcases and gear that are comfortable enough to wear all day and tough enough for all year. But Timberland never rest on their accomplishments. If they did, they would have only have ever made one waterproof Timberland leather boot.
br> When you buy Timberland clothing and accessories you know you are buying from an ethical company. Indeed Timberland’s know their place in this world is bigger than the things they put in it. So they volunteer in their local communities. They also state “making new products goes hand in hand with making things better”. Therefore Timberland is focused on reducing their carbon footprint and being as environmentally friendly as they can.
History of Timberland
In 1952 Nathan Swartz bought into the Abington Shoe Company and in 1973 he introduced the Timberland boot. It stood for rugged durability and exceptional craftsmanship. Following the success of this product, Nathan changed the name of his company to “The Timberland Company” in 1978.
br> Timberland specialised in providing quality footwear for many years before introducing clothing lines in 1988 as well as opening speciality stores in London, Boston and New York.
br> In recent times Timberland has expanded by acquiring other brands such as SmartWool (in 2005) and Howies (in 2006).
